LET SUMMER BEGIN!

May is the new December. Seems it gets crazier and crazier every year. It starts to show on us all as the end of the school year approaches... Harrison had a wax museum report where he got to choose a famous person to portray. He chose Shaun White...
Not breaking character... staying totally still...
His turn to come alive!
Is he a cute redhead or what?!
He let his hair grow out so he didn't have to wear a wig. I just had to share one more picture of him with red hair and freckles. So cute!!
The whole class ready for cake. I volunteered twice a week to help with this project. They worked so hard and did such a fantastic job. I'm really going to miss them.
I helped plan and host Sully's end of the year party. He had a fantastic year. I'm so proud of him and how far he has come. We had ice-cream and made bubble mountains...
Can you feel the excitement?!
We had friends over on the last day to play dress-up...
The parents really got into it, too...
And there was a late night cookie delivery...
We all survived... some of us with the help of a little spontaneous yoga.
Welcome, Summer Break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT WAS I THINKING???

I helped coach Sully's team. "Coach" isn't the right word... maybe "Wrangle"... like wrangling cats... burning cats on crank with chiggers and peanut butter stuck to the roof of their mouth. If that last sentence didn't convey how totally crazy it was, this should...

Sully stops the ball...Twin A approaches and snatches the ball...Ball is loose!
Twin B grabs the ball...
Or tries... Dog pile!
Twin B has the ball, but Twin A is pushing his head into the ground while Sully tries to loosen it...
Wish I could say this was early in the season or not the norm...

MOTHERS' DAY

Yes... It's plural possessive for a reason...

Sully's teachers hosted the most incredible tea for the moms. It was over the top!

Sully is reading why he loves me. If you are wondering, it's because I took him to an indoor amusement park in Hiawassee when it was raining during Spring Break. (*facepalm* never posted Spring Break pics... ughhh) Anyway, back to the festivities... I love how happy he is here. He truly loves school and when he gets to share it with his family. His teacher was very specific that the kids not bother the moms so we could eat and socialize. He always draws me the best outfits!

yep... I had some... Ok. Just to give you an idea of how insane our Mother's Day was, here are the counties we traveled through:

Dekalb, Rockdale, Walton, Newton, Morgan, Oconee, Clarke, Jackson, Barrow, Gwinnett and we were home mid-afternoon.

First Stop: Rutledge for breakfast with Grandmother, Lolly, and lots of folks... We hoped to go see Granny before heading to the next meet-up, but it didn't happen...

We then went to lunch in Commerce with Sassy, MaMa, and Annie Ruth. The men folk were there, too... but they don't count... it's not their day... We made it home and relaxed the rest of the day. Bob didn't really relax. He tried to save my step from the waterproofing crew. Yes, I get attached to things like steps. And that was a great end to a great day!

THE THINKER

Sully's teacher's mother passed away. I told him about it and suggested he pray for her at bedtime. It went something like this...

Sully: (big pause) Dear God, Please help the sick people... and please help the poor people... (big pause)

Me: Are you trying to think of a way to say, "Please be with all the people that are sad because they lost somebody?"

Sully: No. I think the poor people need help. I think the people that are sad because they lost somebody need to be blessed.

Amen.

PIANO MAN

another year, another recital, another thing he's already better at than me. I could never grasp position G and he passed me in the handbook....

IF KIRK WERE IN THE THIRD GRADE...

Harrison: I made a 100 on my timed division test today. I improved a lot. It's good to improve unless you are Captain Kirk. Then if you are improved, you get promoted and become Admiral Kirk. Admiral Kirk couldn't drive his ship anymore.

FIELD DAY!

I walked around with (ok... chased) Sully during his first Field Day. He loved it. I wish the would just call the school year done. They are out of money, the kids have been tested, and the water balloons have been tossed. What's left?
I volunteered to work during Harrison's time. I helped with a game called "Duck on a Rock."
Duck on a Rock is not as innocent as it sounds...
Beanbag Firing Range would have been much more appropriate.

WHO YOU GONNA CALL?

Our crops were invaded by cabbage moth caterpillars. Luckily, we had two armed and dangerous Moth Busters on the case. The even had uniforms and a theme song.
If there's something strange
on your broc-co-li,
who you gonna call?

IF I HAD SEVERAL BUCKETS FULL OF MONEY...

I would buy this land. We have such a good time every time we go...

After the frog, feather, rock, stick, and leaf collecting, we went to a park for a picnic dinner.
I love spring time and just letting kids be kids...
