BUY ME SOME...

peanuts and cracker jacks
and some cotton candy
and a snow cone
and a pretzel
wonder what sully will remember most about his first braves game??
but there was a game...
and some chopping...
and some good scouting buddies.
and a mom that still likes to torture her children.
watching him try to look at his own blue tongue was a little like watching a dog chase its tail....not that I would ever aggravate the dog...
and some dancing in the streets on the way out... the boys were really impressed with being able to walk on closed streets and under open streets.

and if you are wondering- braves won!

SORE THROAT BIRTHDAY

Sully had his tonsils and adenoids removed. A huge praise that he has handled it extraordinarily well. He was very stoked to find out he got to watch tv on school days and that he was going to get gifts. We were in the car on the way home and he said, "Hey Mommy!" I turned around and he had his chin propped on his palm and said, "I didn't get any presents" very matter-of-factly. I told him they would come and boy did they! We were on a walk today and talked to a neighbor as she checked her mail. I told her he had his tonsils out two days ago...Sully told her that he had a sore throat birthday.

here he is with the first of many gifts...

and here he is at the end of the day....after playing with all his new things. he's wearing his new athletic shorts, shirt without a design, and holding oil slick...who had been transformed many times. He was so exhausted, but wasn't going to give up the tv on a school day...I really hope the novelty doesn't wear off!

And please say a little prayer that Sully continues to heal and handle things so well.
thanks!

LIFE'S A BREEZE

I'm taking a parenting class at church and the question was raised- "What do your kids do for fun?" I didn't say anything because I honestly wonder what other kids do for fun. Around here it's all about rope, latex gloves, water, tape, boxes, dress-up, "camp mom" sports, reading, action figures and lego creations...and cooking...how could I forget cooking?? I even had help tonight peeling a mango and still have all the skin on my fingers. anyway- not a single person in the room said "found object art". I, for one, couldn't imagine life without it. They accidentally spill the straws and look at all the wonderful treasures I find...
x-wing fighter
spider web
(I helped with the play dough spider because that was much easier than making an eight-legged straw being that would be too large for the web and then we would have to create and even larger web out of respect. Luckily, they taped it in the path that leads down the hall...never be in the way there.) ummmm...dunno...
same here.
I'm glad that after all this time we are still in the tape phase. Harrison keeps asking about electronics and battery powered gadgets...says he's going to build me a robot that will help with the cleaning. Someday he will realize that if he had less projects, that would help with the cleaning. But until then, we will treasure the mounds of taped together boxes (especially a robot name Secret Keeper), rockets from two litre coke bottles (he almost cried when I asked if we could recycle it since its sprite can engines were dangling) and massive splinter-ridden statues that are perched on a shelf in the playroom... He still hasn't made anything out of one of his most prized possessions- a Volvo hubcap given to him by his principle when he found it in the carpool line and asked to bring it home. I think it's going to be a turtle one day...does anyone need a turtle??

SLEEPWALKER

In the wee hours, I found Harrison's light on and his door open. He wasn't in the potty...usually his only destination. I was getting ready to do the importance of a good night's sleep speech and bracing for the reasons why this was a webkinz or lego emergency.
But when I peeked into his room and saw this-

I just had to take pictures and laugh.

COMING TO TERMS WITH IT ALL...

I haven't posted any of the back-to-school pictures because I still haven't accepted the fact that summer is over. The boys are both doing very well and I guess I should be thankful....I am thankful, but also sad...

Here is Harrison looking to see whose class he is in the night before registration. He is finally in a class with Alexander, but lost his good friend, Alex. He wasn't sure about the teacher, but we looked in the yearbook and the class pet, a guinea pig, had her photo taken and was listed with the students. As far as he was concerned, it was a sign that things were going to be alright so he called his best friend to share the good news...
and here he is on the first day...as a second grader!! Things are better than I could have hoped or prayed for...I just wish he would quit calling me by his teacher's name!
Sully didn't go back until last week. He was so ready and he loves Pre-K! Here he is at the end of his first day. Notice the nifty bag he decorated. He drew Bob in the star...
looks a little like Homer Simpson to me. I'm the blue figure to the right and I'm trying to throw out an anchor. I don't why I'm adrift, but I'm also very thin! woohoo!
I look at Sully's goals for this year and it's hard to believe my baby is going to be writing his first, middle, and last name...know his street address with zip code...counting to 100...recognizing numbers 1-20...and so on.
I really can't handle them growing up this quickly. It doesn't help that Harrison taunts me in the van with, "I'm going to be in third grade next year." When I respond, "I'm going to home school."; he stops. I am very thankful that he loves school so much that I can threaten with pulling him out as punishment....just slow down, OK!?

DRAGONCON

So Bob and Harrison headed downtown to walk around the hotels and take in the sights. Here is Harrison with Alien and Predator. Those are people in costume... "Laugh it up, fuzzball!"
These are the Klingons from Uranus.
to quote Harrison:
"Dad made me take that one."
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope. My dad brought me down here but didn't pay for me to go into the conference. He says I'm too young."
"Danger Will Robinson! Grown men will steal your costume!"
Domo arigato, mr. roboto...
my favorite...
Sully's favorite...
Harrison's favorite...
He was so proud of himself for getting one of Princess Leia on her cell phone.
Bob couldn't take a picture of his favorite...that's why Harrison wasn't allowed in the conference...

A SWEET LITTLE SONG ABOUT DEATH, DESTRUCTION, AND THE DARKER SIDE

Sully was disappointed that Weird Al Yankovic has a song dedicated to Yoda and not one for Luke. It took him a while to accept the fact that I knew nothing about the Luke Song. So he has decided to take matters into his own hands and prove to me that the song exist...

now if I could just figure out how to get it on the ipod!

Luke Song Lyrics-

Luke stays on the darker side
Luke killed all the bad guys
On the darker side
Except dark side Anakin on the darker side
He killed everyone on the darker side
He would be great on the darker side
but the darker side wanted to kill him
but the darker side will get to him
They'll look and they'll watch

tabs coming soon.
