BYRUUUUUUNNNNNN!

So we had Melissa's baby, Byron, for the weekend. What a weekend! He. Never. Slows. Down. I dressed him for bed and before I could get the dirty clothes in the hamper, he was back with a hole in the back of his shirt saying, "boo-boo". So here are some pictures of the chair-climbing, button-pushing, toy-dumping, reminder of why I stopped at two...

I think Reese might have another member in the I Heart Harrison fan-club... This thing was awesome. He was contained and had soft round edges...but was soon back to his Ha-mom-mon (aka Harrison)
stealing the bo-bo
and then on to a new game, HOTTDLUGKITF.
Is it something you purchase at IKEA or
Hold on to the Dog Leg Until You Get Kicked in the Face?
yep. a face-kicking good time...
Being outside was the key. He loves anything with wheels and we have no shortage...such a cute and sweet little booger...
but we had a good time and a new found appreciation for a certain eight and almost five year-old.

CAN YOU HELP US?

It's seems that our newest pet, a leopard moth caterpillar, either escaped during his walk today or was carried away by a bird. So I told Sully I would put out an APB for a fuzzy black crawly that answers to the name Stossel Weedy. Ok... he doesn't answer to it. He mostly just eats leaves and poops (Harrison says "like a pelican"), but that doesn't make him much different from the other residents of this house. So if you see Stossel, please point him in our direction.

SCAMPING

roasting. not toasting. our little piece of heaven
up to wildcat
What looks like a nice picture of the trees until you look at the the brown mess on the bottom left... that would be my hair and a worm (courtesy of Harrison). I also got whacked with a worm in the forehead (courtesy of Pop-Pop), took a hook to the arm (pulling it from a tree), Pop-Pop got hooked in hand (courtesy of Harrison), Sully got hooked in the hand (after cleaning algae from his power bait), and Harrison got hooked in the pants (courtesy of Sully). But we also caught a rooster tail, a crayfish and some trout and a couple of baby brim...
Sully decided to skip the pole and use his hands...
after the swim
enjoying the catch
and the catch
we had so much fun.
Sully had to pay tribute with a mural in the driveway. We had a debate over the placement of the bridge, but it was complete. It even had the baby bird in the bush and the tadpoles from the hatchery.
can't wait to do it again!!

FOR THE BIRDS

Like most kids, the boys talk a lot… all the time… nonstop… they can sense you are near them and they start talking… I sometimes agree to things without realizing it, but I love it so much that I have to write down our conversations from time to time….

Sully: I drew something that stands for Jesus.
Me: What?
Sully: A bird.
Me: What does the bird mean?
Sully: It means “peace.”
Me: That’s very sweet. Where did you learn that?
Sully: Phineas and Ferb.

Whaaat?

And later that same night…

Harrison: You know what I listened to on my IPod today?
Me: What?
Harrison: Monkey and the Engineer.
Me: That’s the Grateful Dead. It’s off of Reckoning.
Harrison: That’s the Grateful Dead? It didn’t sound like them.
Me: That’s because it’s Bob Weir and you are probably more used to the Jerry Garcia singing.
Harrison: Oh. I like Jerry Garcia. I think he sounds more like a rock star. Which one sings Sugar Magnolia?
Me: Both
Harrison: But which one sings “Sugar magnolia, blossoms blooming, head’s all empty and I don’t care.” Which one?
Me: I think that is Bob Weir.
Harrison: I think it is Jerry Garcia.
Me: You have me so confused; I think I have to listen to it. Some of the old Dead Heads don’t like Bob Weir.
Harrison: Hmmm. What's that?
Me: That just the name for Grateful Dead fans.
Harrison: Why do they call them Dead Heads?
Me: Just do...
Harrison: What do they call Ben Harper fans?
Me: Ben Heads or Dot Netters
Harrison: I think you are a Ben Head.
Me: I’m a little of both. Most of the Dot Netters only like his old stuff and I like some of his newer stuff with the Innocent Criminals. But I don’t really care for his new band. Do you know what they call Ryan Adams fans?
Harrison: What?
Me: Halloween Heads.
Harrison: Does he sing a lot of Halloween songs?
Me: Nope.
Harrison: Uhhh. What is the name of his band?
Me: The Cardinals
Harrison: Then they should call them Bird Heads….. or Bird Brains. Bird Brains! (Followed by lots of cackling)

Here is the song that started it all...

I will spare you another Phineas and Ferb song.

Oh wait... I lied...

THE FOURTH!!

Time to celebrate this great country's birthday. Seems like we do that everyday since Sully is still singing his songs from his Pre-k celebration, but this time we did it with three of our favorite things (in no particular order): family, water and fire!!
When I say "my kids stayed in the water"- they literally stayed in the water...
Glen and Hunter stopped by. Such a cutie!!
A little football and drowning...
Harrison's school of jumps...
The Dive
Cannonball
Pencil
Can Opener
Mom Shoulder Launch
The Stud
And the gross (and probably toxic) things that came with the fireworks...
The tired punkins...
We had a yummy dinner and went home for a private fireworks fiesta. Who needs to go to one of those big fancy shows when you have pyromaniacs for parents?? Especially when those parents put the fireworks up on a metal table for a bigger show AND encourage the children to run around the yard while holding a flaming stick??
